Robert Russell McNee was a landscape and figure painter, born in Milngavie in Scotland in 1880, dying in 1950. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art and exhibited at the Glasgow Institute for the Fine Art, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Hibernian Academy and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours amongst others. He enjoyed particularly the rural farm scenes of Perthshire and the east coast. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Glasgow Institute for the Fine Arts and the Paris Salon des Artistes Français.His work is represented in the collection of the Kirkaldy Art Gallery and Culzean Castle (National Trust for Scotland).Biblio: Dictionary of British Artists 1880-1940; Dictionary of Scottish Art; Bénézit: Dictionnaire des Peintres.
